This year, we welcome British artist and music therapist Adrian Snell. During the Las Negras retreat, Adrian will bring us along on a journey that provides writers with a new approach and fresh ideas; a means to get deeply in touch with the present and from there, write authentic songs that stand the test of time.
This retreat will see you rediscover sound – the sounds of everyday life or newly created soundscapes. It will challenge you to hear with new ears, to explore beyond the instruments you are familiar with. To dig deeper, embrace your talents and perhaps even move a little out of your comfort zone; developing your skills as a songwriter and be inspired in new and exciting ways. These days will give you inspiration to move forward in your career and craft.
You will return home with new songs and skills, as well as new friends that share your passion for the arts. Dig deeper for your craft, get new inspiration or take the next step towards the next level. Wherever you are in your songwriting journey, we hope you join us in Las Negras!

Tapping from his long and varied experience as one of Europe’s leading artists with a Christian worldview, his works include projects like ‘The Passion’, ‘Alpha + Omega’, ‘Song of an Exile’ and ‘The Cry’, providing fresh experiences with ancient stories as well as giving a voice to those who fell victim to the darkest pages of history. His opus ‘City of Peace’ was of a more prophetic nature. Recently though, Adrian has been inspired by his work as a music therapist. His recent project ‘Fierce Love’ came to be both thematically and practically through this practice.
Growing up around internationally acclaimed musicians, it seemed only a matter of time for U.K. singer-songwriter Philippa Hanna to find her own voice.
1500 live shows, two books and six studio albums later, she has done just that. Her versatility in style makes her a draw for fans of country, pop and inspirational music, giving her a unique platform that led to sharing the stage with artists like Lionel Richie, Wet Wet Wet, Leona Lewis and Little Mix. Philippa’s writing explores the bigger picture of life and love, influenced by her life-changing spiritual encounter in 2004. She is open about her teenage battle with anxiety and depression, sharing her new-found perspective on a multitude of platforms.
Besides Adrian Snell, Dutch producer and songwriter Henk Pool will participate as a coach. Henk has decades of experience as a internationally acclaimed songwriter and producer. He co-wrote the international hit song ‘Testify to Love’ and has had this and other songs recorded by the likes of Wynonna, Margaret Becker, Laura Fygi, Avalon, Chris Eaton, Kelly Minter, Belle Perez and Dutch artist Marco Borsato.
